Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” Coffee Is Bringing a Little More Ambition to Your Morning

Pour yourself a cup of ambition—literally. Dolly Parton is entering the coffee business with a new line inspired by her iconic song “9 to 5,” giving fans another way to start the day with the optimism, energy, and determination associated with the country music legend.

The coffee line, created in collaboration with Community Coffee, is scheduled to become available to coffee lovers on September 29. It will feature multiple roast levels and preparation formats, making it accessible to everyone from whole-bean enthusiasts to fans of the convenience of single-serve pods.

A Coffee Line Inspired by an Iconic Song

Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” was released in 1980 as part of the soundtrack for the film of the same name. The song quickly became one of Parton’s signature hits, earning widespread recognition for its catchy melody and relatable portrayal of the frustrations and ambitions of working life.

Its famous opening line—“Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen”—has long connected the song with the rituals of beginning a workday. The new coffee line builds directly on that imagery, transforming the song’s well-known phrase, “a cup of ambition,” into a product designed for the morning routine.

More than four decades after the song’s release, the coffee collaboration gives the “9 to 5” theme a new place in everyday life. Whether enjoyed before a busy workday or during a relaxed morning, the coffee is intended to reflect the warmth, humor, and resilience associated with Parton’s brand.

A Collaboration With Community Coffee

The “9 to 5” coffee line is being developed in partnership with Community Coffee, a company known for its long history in the coffee industry. Founded in Louisiana, Community Coffee has built its reputation around roasted coffee products and a strong connection to Southern coffee culture.

The collaboration combines Parton’s entertainment legacy and broad cultural appeal with Community Coffee’s experience in sourcing, roasting, and packaging coffee. This type of partnership allows the product to appeal to several audiences at once: Dolly Parton fans, coffee drinkers, collectors of celebrity-branded products, and consumers looking for familiar coffee formats.

The partnership also gives the line a practical foundation. Rather than being solely a novelty item, the coffee will be offered in a range of roast levels and formats designed for regular consumption.

Three Roast Levels for Different Preferences

The coffee line will be available in light, medium, and dark roasts. Roast level affects a coffee’s flavor, aroma, body, and perceived acidity, so understanding the differences can help shoppers choose the variety that best suits their preferences.

Light Roast

Light-roasted coffee is generally roasted for less time than medium or dark coffee. Because the beans retain more of their original characteristics, light roasts often have brighter acidity and more noticeable fruit, floral, or citrus-like notes.

Light roast may be a good choice for coffee drinkers who enjoy a more nuanced or lively cup. It is also often preferred by people who want the character of the bean’s growing region to stand out.

Medium Roast

Medium roast is one of the most popular choices among coffee drinkers. It typically balances the natural flavors of the beans with the richer, toasted flavors created during roasting.

A medium roast may offer a rounded body, moderate acidity, and familiar notes such as caramel, nuts, chocolate, or toasted grain. For many households, it is a versatile everyday coffee that works well with drip brewers, pour-over methods, and automatic coffee machines.

Dark Roast

Dark-roasted beans are roasted longer, producing a deeper color and more pronounced roasted flavors. Dark roast coffee commonly features notes associated with bittersweet chocolate, smoke, toasted spices, or molasses.

Although dark roast often tastes stronger, roast strength and caffeine content are not exactly the same thing. Dark roasting creates a bolder flavor profile, but the actual caffeine difference between roast levels is generally modest. Coffee drinkers who enjoy a robust, intense cup may prefer the dark roast.
